Birkin Bangs, My New Hair!

Hi guys, I’m sorry I haven’t been here for a while. After losing my only dog, Happi, I felt so devastated and needed some time off from social media. Now I feel ready to write again and share with all of you.

Lately, I’ve been so inspired by Jane Birkin and decided to get bangs again after a long time. Looking at her old photos made me want to try the timeless "Birkin bangs." Jane Birkin was the ‘it girl’ of the ’60s, and her name even inspired the famous Hermès Birkin bag. Her bangs, known as Birkin bangs, remain one of the most popular styles in 2024—a classic everyone should try at least once.

One reason I wanted a change is because of Jakarta's crazy hot weather! If you live in Jakarta, you know how intense it’s been lately. My thick, long hair felt too heavy, and the heat was making it worse. I knew I needed a shorter, lighter style with lots of layering and trimming. Mas Budi asked if I was sure, since Birkin bangs are fuller with a textured, slightly undone look. But I was set on it; I didn’t want the typical Korean-style bangs.

Of course, I knew my hair wouldn’t look exactly like Jane’s—our hair textures are different, and mine is thicker and straighter. But I was excited to get close to the look!

One thing I love about my new hairstyle is how low-maintenance it is. I don’t need any styling tools, and it always looks effortlessly chic. A quick brush, and I’m good to go. It’s been a week, and I’m already enjoying how easy it is to get ready—I just leave it messy, like it should be!

I absolutely love the result, and I’ve received so many compliments on my new look. It feels refreshing to have this style after years of classic long hair.

At first, I hesitated to get bangs because I didn’t want to look too young—my round face already has that effect. But in the end, I reminded myself my hair would grow back if I didn’t love it. Now, I have no regrets!
