I know, I know, YSL Libre is all the hype, especially the Intense version. So, there I was at the Sephora Grand Indonesia last week, casually wandering around when I stumbled upon the YSL Libre booth. Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to test out the original EDP version. Just a little spritz on my skin to see what all the fuss was about.
The opening hit me with a fresh lavender-mandarin punch. It's vibrant, and some might find it leans a bit masculine, but personally, I love it. It’s the kind of scent that works perfectly for everyday wear. Plus, in our lovely humid Indonesian weather, it holds up impressively all day long. The fresh, slightly edgy vibe makes it a great choice for any occasion, whether you're heading to work or just out and about.
After that, I tried the EDP Intense version, which the beauty advisor hyped up as the best seller. Apparently, Indonesian women are absolutely crazy for it. My first impression? This scent is loud and sharp. The opening hit me so hard that it triggered my migraine. But I get it—this is the scent for when you want to make a statement. It’s bold and unapologetic, the kind of fragrance you'd wear when you want to make a memorable impression, like meeting your husband's ex—lol.
It screams confidence and says, "I am the center of attention." With its potent sillage, everyone will definitely notice you. So, are you tempted to get the Intense version now? I can see the allure, but be warned, it's not for the faint-hearted!
Sitting beside the Intense version was the dark, fiery amber flanker of Libre, aptly named Le Parfum. Even the name oozes sophistication...
I shamelessly gave Le Parfum a spray, and it was a pleasant surprise—it didn't trigger the same headache. The opening is so smooth, yet it retains that signature Libre DNA we all love. It's like a rich orchestral version of the other Libre scents, with so many layers and depth.
I even chatted with my husband about it, and he couldn't resist trying it on his skin. And wow, it suits him perfectly! It's one of those fragrances that works beautifully on both men and women, adding a touch of elegance and mystery.
I noticed a fresh, cool lavender note that brings a relaxing vibe, harmonizing beautifully with the warm, spicy saffron. The lavender tempers the sweet vanilla-honey notes, keeping it from becoming too gourmand. Usually, I'm not a fan of vanilla perfumes because their dry down can be cloying and make me feel like an aging vanilla cake. But Le Parfum doesn’t give off that vibe at all. The vanilla here is warm, luxurious, and cozy, much like my beloved Contre Moi from Louis Vuitton. Both scents show that vanilla can be classy, sensual, and alluring.
How's the Dry Down?
The dry down of Libre Le Parfum leaves a beautiful blend of honeyed vanilla, deep spicy saffron and powdery orange blossom that melds perfectly with my skin. It's a signature scent that's sensual and luxurious, perfect for making a lasting impression.
How to Use Libre Le Parfum?
Ladies and gentlemen, this fragrance is richer and deeper, reminiscent of a pure parfum. I only use three sprays, and it lasts all night into the next day—the staying power is incredible. Remember, a little goes a long way. Keep it classy and discreet; overusing it can be overwhelming.
That said, all the YSL Libre flankers, including Le Parfum, aren't safe for blind buys. It's crucial to try them first and see how they evolve on your skin. Every woman has her own scent preferences, and that's perfectly okay. If you're like me and aren't into sharp - overpowering fragrances but want something that lasts and becomes your unique skin scent, Le Parfum is worth a try.
